Benson, NC: Mr. David Eugene Clifton, age 77, of Hodges Chapel Road passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh. Graveside Funeral Service will be held-2:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Benson City Cemetery in Benson. Officiating will be Evangelist David Morris.
Mr. Clifton was born on January 29, 1947 in Harnett County to the late James Lonnie Clifton and to Louise Bryant Clifton. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Clifton retired from Sprint and was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He had a lifelong love of trains and Fords and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Reba Clifton; mother, Louise Clifton; brother, Donald Clifton and wife, Cathey; and niece, Tracy Quillen and husband, Tom; aunt, Ruby Schmidt, special first cousin, Mitchell Clifton; and many extended family members including many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s’s Childrens Hospital at 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
