Mr. Peter Salvatore “Pete” Marino age 69, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, following a long battle of declining heath. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Friday, December 12, 2025 at Unity Advent Christian Church 304 Unity Church Road, Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Darren Brisco will officiate. Burial will follow in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens, Smithfield, NC.
Pete was born on July 5, 1956 in Hammonton, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his father, Salvatore “Sal” Marino, daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Marino, and a brother, Leo Marino. He was graduate of Hammonton High School, where he played football. Following school, he became a truck driver, trucking sweet potatoes, and retired from Winn Dixie with 32 years of service. Pete loved to deer hunt with his many friends in Lumberton, and was a former member of the Broadslab Hunting Club. He was also a member of Unity Advent Christian Church, Four Oaks, NC. Pete lived life on his own terms, and his family often joked that he had nine lives—because no matter what came his way, nothing could stop him. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him, but the memories, laughter, and lessons he shared will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him best.
Surviving include his wife and devoted caregiver of 34 years, Betty W. Marino; daughter, Mary Matthews and husband, Eric; son, Allen Roberts and wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Kayla Matthews, Kelsey Matthews, Andrew Roberts, and Mia Gracelyn Roberts; mother, Martha Lieb Marino; sisters, Monica Wuillermin and husband, August, and Martha Seabrook and husband, Alex; mother-in-law, Mavis Wheeler, sisters-in-law, Annette King and husband, Craig, Rosa Jones and husband, Eddie, and Sue Johnson and husband, Ronnie; many loving nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Liberty Home Health and Hospice for their loving care shown to Pete and Betty.
