Obituary of David Alan Cormier
David ("Dave") A. Cormier
Dave was born December 7, 1946, in Rochester, New Hampshire. He passed away at home on February 13, 2023, after a nearly 2-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife and sons.
Dave graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and Dutchess Community College in New York. He moved to San Diego in 1968 and served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972 as an Aviation Ordinanceman stationed at NAS Miramar, with a stint on the Enterprise during the Vietnam War. Dave graduated from San Diego State University in 1974 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He had a successful career working in purchasing and sales in San Diego at May Company, FedMart, Liquor Barn, Hotel Del Coronado, Price Club, and Southern Wine & Spirits. He retired in 2007.
An avid wine lover and sun worshipper, Dave enjoyed his retirement years to the fullest, including traveling to Greece, France, England, Thailand, New Zealand, and the British Virgin Islands. Most of all he was happily sunning himself on the lounge chair in his backyard, enjoying the beautiful California weather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Beth, and his two wonderful sons, Michael and Nicholas, all of Poway. He is also survived by his brothers Glenn (Juliane) in New Zealand and Brian (Karen) in Portland, OR.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 23, 2023, at his home in Poway from 11:00 – 2:00. For further information or to RSVP, please contact Beth at [email protected]
