David Cummings Obituary
David grew up in Kane, Illinois and graduated in 1976 from Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, Illinois. David retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. He was stationed at Aviano Air Base, the 820th Red Horse, Lake Mead, Nevada and the 90th Missile Wing, Cheyenne, Wyoming, alongside his brother, Mike. David retired in February of 1994. He attended Southern Illinois University. David currently was an owner of a successful construction company after working as a Conductor and Locomotive Engineer with Union Pacific Railroad.
David enjoyed supporting the St. Louis Cardinals, Wyoming Cowboys and Buffalo Bills. David was a member of the American Legion for 31 years. He was a Christian and he attended Kane Methodist Church and Our Savior Lutheran Church with his family. His greatest joy was his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
David married his wife, Judy (Wicklund) Cummings on December 28, 1985, in Cheyenne, Wyoming and she survives. Also, surviving daughter, Anna Cummings of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sisters and brother; Barbara Yarrell of Austin, Texas, Bev and Mike Fessler of Dow, Illinois, Elizabeth Fenton of St, Louis, Missouri, and Daniel and Lynn Cummings of Lewisville TX; Aunt Mary Aderton of Hardin, Illinois; numerous wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, F.G. & Lila Cummings; brother and sister, Tracie Cummings; Mike Cummings; uncles and aunt, John Cummings, Roy "Gabby" Cummings, Ruth Allen; nephew, Mark Cummings. David had a strong zest for life and was always happiest when he was surrounded by his family whom he dearly loved.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
