David Lee Cunningham

Rev. David Lee Cunningham, 90, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2025, at his home. He was born in Bakewell, Tennessee, October 16, 1934, to the late Eugene and Minnie (Hodge) Cunningham and was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn Burton Cunningham, three brothers, Raymond, Eddie and Richard (Virginia) Cunningham, and three sisters, Thelma (Reece) Hodge, Edna Louise (Lewis) Hodge, and Margie Cunningham. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kevin Floyd.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Cunningham of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, and stepdaughters Carla Jean Austin (Danny) Cagle, and Teresa McIntosh and Allan. Also, former wife Joyce Cunningham and their daughter Rebecca Jane (Tony) Starnes of Sale Creek, Tennessee, and son David Duane (Donna) Cunningham of Pittsboro, North Carolina.

He is also survived by four stepdaughters; Sharon (George) Sidorow of Trenton, Georgia ; Lisa (Joe) Totherow of Hixson ; Rebecca (Sammy) Benefield of Sale Creek and Kristie Floyd of Sale Creek.

He is also survived by two grandsons, Brodie Starnes and Matthew Cunningham and many step-grandchildren.

David Cunningham graduated from Sale Creek High School in 1953 and served three years in the military in Germany.

After being discharged from the military, he worked at Chris Craft Boat Company, Singer Cobble, TVA, and Liberty National Insurance Company.

He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Sale Creek, where he was teacher of the men's Sunday School class.

He was a pastor for twenty-five years and served at the following churches: Midway Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Sale Creek, and Center Grove Baptist Church of Rock Springs, Georgia.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 4-8 pm. At Williamson and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Gladen Coe, Brother John Eldridge and Brother Ronnie Smith officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Mt. Vernon Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Patrick Austin, Kody Cavanah, Melvin Holland, Roger Higgins, Brodie Starnes and Troy Raines.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mark Everett, Jason Coleman, Dan Barquest and Zachary Hardy.
