McCullough Funeral HomeDavid “Dave” Curry, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025. Dave was born in Hoopeston, Illinois, which he proudly shared as the sweet corn capital of the world. He resided in Illinois until moving to Georgia to be closer to extended family. For more than 30 years Warner Robins has been his beloved home, where he built a life rich in family, friendship and community.
His vocations were as varied as his talents. Dearest to him were his earliest duties as paper delivery boy and canner at his local sweet corn factory. A degree from ISU in Industrial Arts led him to various leadership roles in the industrial sector. He moved on to teaching in public schools and then became a Broker in the field of real estate. He landed on a true culmination of his talents and life’s work as a jack-of-all-trades in building and home repair.
Throughout his life, Dave was guided by compassion, creativity, and service to others leaving a legacy of kindness, hard work, and love. His flair for cooking manifested in soup kitchens, church missions or mastering the grill at fundraisers or family gatherings. Dave’s passion for teaching shined in being a Sunday school teacher and other various roles of community mentoring. His craftsmanship extended far beyond wood and nails. He helped people build better homes and often better lives. One example being his years of extensive involvement with Emergency Relief Services for Latin America (ERSLA), bringing much-needed fire equipment to under-serviced areas of Nicaragua.
He never met a stranger and will be remembered for his generous heart and strong spirit. As a man of faith, Dave enjoyed fellowship at Christ United Methodist Church and later Bonaire Church. In his younger years, Dave was an avid bowler as a member of the ABC Bowling League and was considered one of the Midwest’s top bowlers for many years. He loved being outdoors, especially on the water. But most of all, he was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Curry of Warner Robins; daughters Michelle Curry of Shalimar, Florida, and Katy Curry of Athens, Georgia; sister Joyce Elliott of Warner Robins; brother Michael Curry of Decatur, Georgia in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Florence Curry, as well as sisters Peg Johnson, Carol Newman, Glenda Kubista, Imogene Lauger, Nancy Curry, and brothers Ralph Curry and Byron Curry.
