David L Dalo, 73, of Canton, passed away Wednesday, January 19th, after an extended illness. Born in Canton on September 6th, 1948, a son of the late Wilbur Dalo and Mary (Forchione) Allen, also preceded in death by brothers Fred "Professor" and Larry.
A maintenance man for Fitzpatrick Realty from 2000-2019, small business owner and construction worker before, Dave was hardworking and talented at his craft. When not at work, he enjoyed arrowhead hunting, marble collecting, metal detecting, antiquing, gardening, working on his Corvette, and always searching for his next project or hobby.
Survived by wife, his "Junkyard Dog" Sherry L (McKown) Dalo; 3 daughters Melissa Dalo, of Canton, Nikki Dalo, of Eugene, Oregon, Kasey (Zach) Griffith, who was his caregiver for the last 6 years, of Canton; 3 sons Larry Dalo, Tom (Martha) Dalo, all of Canton, Nathan (Denay) Dalo, of Knoxville, Iowa; sister Cynthia (John) Giovannelli, of Canton and brother Bill (Gary) Dalo of Vermillion as well as 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on January 29th, 2022, in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Reverend John Stallings officiating. Calling hours will begin at 10:00 AM, also in the funeral home. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and special thanks to Megan Hartman, his angel, who took special care of Dave; John and Scott of Fitzpatrick Realty for providing not only a great job, but great friendship as well; Elaine, Columbia, and Jo for making him love coming to work every day; the David's for helping him get his start again after coming back from Texas; Clinton and Ras Screws for Dave to one of his greatest hobbies, arrowhead hunting; the local doctor Dr. Daniel Blumer, Dr. Michael J. Henderson of the Cleveland Clinic, the only surgeon who would take the chance on his pancreatic cancer, Dr. Pelley, oncologist, Dr. Gutsgell and Dr. Patel palliative pain, and all the other nurses and doctors of the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Center who helped make his last 16.5 years with his family possible.
Now he is at peace having dinner with his mom, partying with his brothers, aunts, uncles, longtime friend Len, all his music buddies and friends lost along the way, and his favorite Betty White.
