David Daniels Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels & Cremation Services on Jan. 5, 2026.
David N. Daniels, 86, of Enfield, beloved husband of 44 years to Jeanne Daniels, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Born on February 19, 1939, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Norman and Okla (Climie) Daniels. David was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and his master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University.

David retired in 1998 after a distinguished 35-year career as a baseball coach and Athletic Director for the University of Connecticut Hartford Division. His passion for sports and mentorship extended well beyond his professional career. Following retirement, he volunteered for more than 20 years with the former Enfield Fish & Wildlife organization. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and sports of all kinds.

David also gave generously of his time as an umpire for Enfield adult men's and women's softball leagues, served as a baseball referee, and was a member of the Catch Hollow Hunting and Fishing Club.

In addition to his wife Jeanne, David is survived by his children: Tracey Stankiewicz and her husband Tom, Scott Daniels and his wife Catherine, Tammy Arthurs and her husband John, Heather Rounbehler, Stephen Clapp and his wife Rebecca, and Tracey Bonanni and her husband Craig; his nine grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Diane Mahoney and her husband John.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4:30 – 7:00 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A brief memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
