David "Davy" Eugene Smith

David “Davy” Eugene Smith, age 46, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, in Georgetown, Kentucky. He was born on December 6, 1979, in Harlan, Kentucky, to Jennifer Barker Smith and the late William Hayward Smith. David worked in construction, doing anything with his hands. He especially liked seeing his fine work in masonry and painting and was quick to point out when someone's work was not up to par. He was proud to have been born in the mountains of Harlan County, loved all kinds of animals, especially his dog Pearl, who preceded him in death. David was a terrific storyteller who enjoyed being the center of attention, loved new clothes and new shoes, like his Kentucky Dunks, supporting his favorite team, the Kentucky Wildcats, and their basketball team, loved his chocolate milk, and watching Christmas specials. David was truly one of a kind. He was passionate about his music and loved all genres. In addition to his mother, Jennifer, David is survived by two brothers, Toby Smith and his wife, Amy, and Todd Smith, two special nieces, Aubrey Smith and Andrienne Smith. He is also survived by his significant other, Mica Davis, and a host of aunts and uncles, Dennis and Claudia Smith, Larry and Vickie Smith, Gayno Smith, James Miles, Phyllis Smith, Roger “Rocky” Barker, and Ina Gilliam, as well as numerous cousins. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Betts & West Funeral Home. The visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 11:00 AM.
