David Lee Dean, known affectionately as "Uncle Dave" to many, was a dedicated cement finisher for over 50 years. He was born on February 4, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio, and passed away on September 20, 2025, in Gallipolis, Ohio.
David's personality was a blend of directness and deep love, manifesting in his honest and hardworking nature. If he liked you, he loved you wholeheartedly. He was proud of his numerous accomplishments, particularly his children and grandchildren. He cherished sharing his knowledge of fishing and shooting with them, creating lasting memories that they will carry with them.
David loved to spend his leisure time enjoying a cold Budweiser and engaging in activities such as fishing, hunting, barbecuing with family, and relaxing on the porch. An avid gardener, he took special pride in growing tomato plants. His adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively as a child and later for work, with memorable trips including destinations like Canada and California, as well as a significant journey to New Orleans. A cherished family moment was his travel to Myrtle Beach for his daughter Pearl's wedding.
David is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Rae; daughters Roselyn (Ralph) Dials, Pearl (Keith) Dean, Christina Dean, and Heather Tabor; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Linda (Frank) Burge; brother Ronnie (Bonnie) Hodge; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Hodge; his mother, Josie (Randy) Rathburn; his mother, Helen Hodge; sister, Caroline Hodge; and brother, Charles (Margaret) Hodge.
A memorial gathering will be held on September 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123.
David will be remembered for his kind spirit, commitment to his family, and the love he generously shared with all who knew him.
