David Paul Deffenbaugh, 76, of Lacon Illinois, died on January 29th 2025 at his residence. Born in Peoria Illinois on July 29, 1948 to the late Oliver and Agnes (Walker) Deffenbaugh Jr., he married Sharon Brender on October 29, 1989 in Chillicothe Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving is his son Luke (Nina Olszanowski) Deffenbaugh of Toluca; brothers Les Deffenbaugh of Sparland, Jim Deffenbaugh of New Jersey; sisters Diana Evans of Lacon, Bonnee Young of Lacon and stepson Jeremiah Brender of Santa Cruz, California. He was preceded in death by his brother Kevin Deffenbaugh.
Dave loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Peoria Casting Club earlier in his life. Dave served his country in the Army and was a prison guard at Statesville penitentiary in Joliet until he was injured during a riot.
Funeral services for Dave will be held Monday, February 3 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon at 11 AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in the Lacon Cemetery and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com

Sorry to hear of David's passing. He and I were cousins and shared the same birthday. We shared many family gatherings when we were all growing up, and our parents were still with us. Lots of memories! My heart goes out to Sharon and Luke.
