David Lex "Buster" Dement, 78, of Elon, NC passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on Monday, January 27, 2025.
A native of Oxford, NC, he was the husband of 58 years to Betsy Parker Dement, who survives and the son of Logan Winston Dement and Lucille Virginia Morris Dement, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in Vietnam for one year and was honorably discharged. He received a diploma in the Airborne course, the Bronze Star, and Meritorious Service Award. He retired from Glen Raven Mills after 39 years of service. He loved to travel, play golf, and watch westerns. Buster never met a stranger and would strike up conversations with anyone. He loved to show pictures from his cell phone.
In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include his children, Duane A. Dement, (Riplee Royster Dement) of King George, VA and Brian S. Dement (Patty Puett Dement) of Burlington, NC; grandchildren, Zachary Alaxander "Xander" Dement of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Glenn G. Dement (Marie) and their son, Glenn Dement, Jr. (Gayle) of Henderson, NC; sister, Rebecca A. Kidd (Barry) of Stem, NC; he was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Avery M. Parker and Lora V. Parker.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. E. Reid Dickens with the family receiving friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
