David Earl Dennis was born Sunday, June 14, 1981 in Sulpher Springs, Texas to Jimmy Don Drew and Nancy (Dennis) Pendergrass. He passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 in Odessa, Texas.

From the start, David Dennis had a spirit too big to be contained. Even as a boy, he was full of mischief, laughter, and energy. One teacher once nicknamed him "David Do Wrong," but anyone who truly knew him understood that behind the trouble was a boy who just wanted to live life his own way. Even when sent to the corner, he turned it into a story worth telling-once biting the edge of a bookshelf out of pure boredom. That was David: restless, unpredictable, unforgettable. David lived with a heart wide open. He was the kind of person who would give away the very clothes off his back without a second thought. Generosity wasn't something he practiced-it was simply who he was. He loved to look sharp, pressing his clothes and stepping out in brand new shoes, carrying a style that should have taken him into fashion instead of the harder roads he sometimes chose. He was the biggest pain in the butt, the worst temper, the biggest jokester, and the biggest heart. David was every extreme-good and bad. What you saw was what you got, and he didn't care if you liked it or not. He was rough and rugged, yet soft and loving. He could be your worst enemy or your best friend-you chose. He was a mama's boy through and through, and he loved his children with every part of his being. Though the choices of his later years often kept him apart from them, they were constantly in his thoughts and conversations. "I miss my kids," he would say again and again. David spent his life searching for people with hearts as big as his own. He longed for others who loved as fully, as freely, and as deeply as he did-and I dare say he never found it. Perhaps his heart was simply too rare, too big, too boundless to be equaled in this lifetime. Although on June 20, 2009 he married Shilo O'Donnell and spent the next 16 years loving her in a way most people only dreamt about. Their love knew troubles, but when they loved, that's exactly what they did.

David had a spirit that could thrive anywhere, whether in prison, in church, or in everyday life. He could walk into the richest neighborhood or the roughest street and be loved the same. His energy was magnetic, his laughter unforgettable, his loyalty unshakable. People absolutely loved David, because there was something undeniably different about him. He will be remembered as a prankster, a protector, a fighter, and above all, a man with an enormous heart. David Dennis was special, one of a kind, and impossible to forget. The demons within him took hold, would not let go, and now he is gone, but the memories remain. Let his life remind us not to take the people around us for granted, because we never know which day may be the last. Hold onto his memory, cherish the times you had, and carry his spirit forward in love.

Last but not least, David feared God and he loved God. In his lowest, deepest, darkest moments, he sought out Jesus Christ and called on His name. He would want every one of you here today to do the same: cry out to God, repent, pick up your cross, and follow Him.

David is survived by his spouse: Shiloh Dennis; mother: Nancy Pendergrass, of Comfort, Texas; sons: Logan (Baylie) Dunn and Hagan O'Donnell, both of Stanton, Texas; daughters: Skyler Dunn and partner Matthew; Rylan O'Donnell and Sayler Dennis: one brother; Joseph (Reanna) Dennis; one grandson Denver O'Donnell. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded by his father, Jimmy Don Drew.

A memorial service will be held at 4pm Friday September 19, 2025 at Sherwood Park with a balloon release as well as a meal. Friends are encouraged to share their memories, stories and fellowship in his honor.
