David A Dipersia

David Anthony Dipersia, 66, a lifelong Worcester resident, passed away surrounded by his family at home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 after a period of declining health.

David was born in Worcester, MA, the son of Anthony X. and Sarah (Pignatiello) Dipersia. David was a graduate of Worcester Vocational High School and in 1981 joined the U.S. Air Force proudly serving his country for five years. Shortly after his discharge, David joined Mass Electric where he worked until 2014, and he later retired from National Grid. David met Kimberly A. Hunt in 1983 in Rancho Cordova, California while stationed at Mather Air Force Base. They married in 1985 and continued their life together back east in Worcester to raise their family with faith and love. On August 17, 2025, David and Kimberly celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

David is survived by his wife, Kimberly and his two children, Amanda K. Cantrell, with her husband Nicholas and their son, Noah of Worcester, and Dominic X. Dipersia, with his wife Amanda of Milford; two sisters, Maryjane Fors of Boylston and Micheala Dipersia of Gloucester; his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and his older sister Nancy Zlotek.

David's health journey began in December 2014 when he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and mitochondrial disease, which led to emergency heart surgery. After eight months of recovery, he was sent home with an LVAD (heart pump) to help sustain him. In April 2016, David received a life-saving heart transplant, marking the start of his new chapter in life.

Over the following years, he faced a series of health challenges but consistently approached each setback with resilience, a smile, and an unwavering positive attitude. His remarkable perseverance was supported by the exceptional care he received from his teams at Tufts and MGH in Boston. Both teams played a crucial role in keeping him going for more than a decade.

David’s greatest enjoyment in life was his family. He cherished every moment he had with them, whether it was gathering at family celebrations, cheering on his children at their sporting events, or enjoying time together on family reunions. He loved to read, visit Maine and California, watch the Red Sox play at Fenway Park, and drink Dunkin’ iced coffee. One of his most cherished memories was visiting Italy with his family at the end of his daughter Amanda’s year abroad. There, he had the opportunity to meet his extended family from his mother’s side and take in all of the sites and food that Italy offers. His joyful and caring spirit will remain with us always.

A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 24th from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. followed by his Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd, Worcester, MA. Burial with U.S. Air Force honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Heartbrothers Foundation, 276 W.
