David D. Dobner, a lifelong resident of Mount Clemens, passed away on the morning of Friday, May 30, 2025.
Born to Adolph and Geraldine (Klockow) Dobner, Dave was a proud graduate of Mount Clemens High School, Class of 1973. He dedicated over 25 years of service to the Harrison Township Water Department, where his knowledge, reliability, and strong work ethic left a lasting mark. He retired in 2003, but his commitment to community and connection never stopped.
A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton Township, Dave previously served as an elder, offering guidance and leadership rooted in his deep faith and strong values. Those same values guided his role as a father and coach. Dave was always there for his sons and their classmates-on the baseball diamond or basketball court-sharing not only the rules of the game, but lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance.
An avid fan of Detroit sports, Dave rarely missed a game and could talk at length about the highs and lows of his favorite teams. His interests also included vintage cars, Thursday bowling nights at the Rec Bowl, and, most notably, his beloved blue pickup truck-recognized by many around town as a symbol of his presence, spirit, and stories.
Dave's magnetic personality and love for conversation earned him the affectionate nickname "Mr. Mount Clemens." Whether at the local diner, a community event, or just running errands, Dave could be counted on for a lively exchange-especially if the topic was about his hometown.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of warmth, humor, and dedication to family and community will live on in the hearts of many.
He is survived by his boys, Christopher Dobner, Joshua Dobner, and Timothy Dobner. The family tree grows stronger with the addition of grandchildren, Carter, Winter and Anakin.
Also surviving are cousins, John Archibald, Mark (Cindy) Archibald, Jamie Archibald, Gail Dobner, niece Kathy Dobner, nephews, Keith Dobner, Patrick and Kevin Gore, and his former wife Sandra Dobner. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Gary Dobner and Sandra Gore.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main, Mount Clemens, Michigan from 3:00 pm until 8:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 11:00 am (instate at 10:00 am) at Trinity Lutheran Church, 38900 Harper, Clinton Township, Michigan with the Rev, Gary Richard officiating.

We Called him the "Rookie" on Johnny Kellys softball team when he graduated from High School and came to play old man ball. He remained a great friend until the end. He will be missed. God bless and care for The Rookie. Billy Russell

A true great man. We were all lucky to have Big Dave in our lives. I know I'm going miss knowing that at any time throught the day in the Clem, there was always a chance that Dave would pull up in his truck & the next hour, sometimes more, was going to be a great conversation with a great Man. Also, the Fennells & Dobners hanging out on Lincoln after baseball games at Memorial were some of best times we were lucky to have.
