David Dolezel Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 12, 2025.
David John Dolezel, 85, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on August 10, 2025. He was born on June 18, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, to Cleo and Faye Dolezel. At the age of six, he moved to the United States and was raised in Troy, Michigan, where he attended Troy High School.

Following graduation, David proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years, honing his skills as an electrician while serving aboard a submarine. After his military service, he began a long and successful career as a master electrician with Chrysler.

On October 31, 1962, David married the love of his life, Joan, in Norfolk, Virginia. Together, they shared a lifetime of adventures, especially enjoying trips to Las Vegas and relaxing getaways at their cabin in Indian River.

David had many passions, including golf and bowling-he was a member of a bowling league for many years. He was also a proud lifetime member of the Moose and part of the Moose Fellowship. Above all, David treasured time spent with his family, who were the center of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; children, David, Dawn (Lenny) Grzadzinski, and Debbie (Kevin) Mecum; grandchildren, Tayler Capoferri, Brooke Mecum, Kyle Mecum, and Jacob Dolezel; and his sister, Katie (Ray) Hayden. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward, and his parents.

He will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Gardens West cemetery in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
