For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4: 6-7 David Lee Dow "JOE JOE" was born March 24, 1960, to David Lucious Dow and Earnestine Seward; Guardian grandparents, Rubin and Serena Dow. "Joe-Joe", as he was fondly called by all that knew him, joined Blackwell Temple AME Zion church, 106 Center Street, Kenbridge, Virginia at an early age and remained a member until death. He was educated in Lunenburg County school system. Raised on a farm with his grandparents and other relatives – his hobbies were cars and trucks. Joe-Joe was joined in Holy matrimony to Mary Madgalene Macklin on March 25, 2000. To this union three children were also joined. Joe-Joe was a quiet country boy, never tried to venture into the big city life – just worked on the farm until he was employed by Ken Lea Furniture factory, from there to Kelly's Rental DFC and Parhams Grocery, until his health began to decline. Then he just was peddling around home with his car and truck. Joe-Joe departed this world on April 21, 2025, at VCU Health/Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Virginia. Parents, David and Earnestine; brother, Raymond Lee and grandparents; guardians, Rubin and Serena Dow preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Mary of the home; daughters, Tonniqquah Jefferson and Charde M. Lewis (Artavius); son, George Mason; all of Blackstone Virginia; godson, Jashaun Epps of Blackstone, Virginia; grandchildren, Maurice Marshall, Ashante Jefferson, Akeem. and Artavius Lewis, Jr. all of Kenbridge, Virginia; three sisters, Gloria Dendy of Richmond, Virginia, Christine Blackwell and Diane Bell of Kenbridge, Virginia; four brothers, Wesley Dow and Marcus Bagley of Petersburg, Virginia; Lloyd Dow of Richmond, Virginia; Jermaine Bagley of Hampton, Virginia and two sisters-in-law, Eva Crayton of Kenbridge, Virginia and Florence Whitaker of Richmond, Virginia; three brothers-in-law, James King (Barbara) of Washington, DC, John Macklin and Donald Macklin (Mary); aunts, Shirley Dow, Emma Hite; devoted aunt, Susie Jones all of Kenbridge, Virginia; Mary Webb of Blackstone, Virginia; Emma Stith of Richmond, Virginia; Ruth Stewart of Kenbridge, Virginia and Eva Seward of Warfield, Virginia; uncle, Linwood Seward of Richmond, Virginia; long-life friend, Robert Reese of Kenbridge, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, cousins and co-workers.
