David Dutcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rannells Funeral Home - Koontz Lake Chapel on Dec. 6, 2025.
David K. Dutcher of LaPorte passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Franciscan Michigan City Hospital. He was born on August 24, 1948, in LaPorte to the late Keith Dutcher and Mildred (Kepcha) Oberlin and was 77 years old at the time of his passing.

On September 16, 1967, in Walkerton, David married the love of his life, Sally (McMahon), who survives him. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage built on devotion, partnership, and an unshakable love for their family.

David worked in auto sales for many years, later focusing on the finance side of the business. His friendly personality, sincerity, and ability to connect with people made him both successful and deeply respected in his field.

A true family man, David cherished time spent with those he loved-especially his treasured grandchildren, Paige and Gage, who brought him immeasurable joy. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, sharing stories, laughter, and the simple moments that meant the most to him.

David had many passions that filled his life with happiness. He loved golfing and was an avid NASCAR fan, closely following Dale Earnhardt Sr. for many years and more recently cheering on Ross Chastain. He enjoyed cooking shows-particularly anything on the Food Network-and could often be found watching his favorites. A train enthusiast, he delighted in programs like Mighty Trains on the Discovery Channel. Above all, he held a special place in his heart for his little dog, Trixie, who remained a loyal companion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sally; his children, Jill (Candy) Dutcher and Jeff Dutcher; his grandchildren, Paige Martin and Gage West; two sisters, Carol Clark and Pam (Denny) Kaiser; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; mother and stepfather, Robert Oberlin; and three brother-in-laws, Steve Clark, Thomas McMahon and Don Crnich.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to Noon CST on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Funeral services will begin at Noon CST at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

David will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and a man whose warm heart and gentle spirit touched all who knew him. His legacy of love and family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
