George Turner

George W. Turner of Koontz Lake passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 17, 1941, in Chicago to the late James R. and Mae (Hall) Turner, George was 84 years old at the time of his passing. A man defined by his unwavering work ethic, deep faith, and profound love for his family, he lived a life of purpose, service, and devotion.
George built a long and respected career as an industrial foreman, taking great pride in his work and the people he worked alongside. His strong hands and steady presence were matched only by his generous heart. On September 15, 1962, in Chicago, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Dixon), beginning 63 wonderful years together marked by partnership, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
A man who believed deeply in serving others, George was proud to give back to his community. He served as a firefighter and EMT in Alsip, Illinois, for more than 20 years, offering help, comfort, and protection to countless families. His calm strength and caring spirit made him a natural servant.
George was a devoted father to five children, and nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was the foundation of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with those he loved. He enjoyed traveling, taking particular delight in a recent trip to Europe with Mary Ann, and he found simple peace in feeding the birds around his home-a favorite pastime.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; three children, James (Donna) Turner, Linda Turner, and Dan (Jennette) Turner; eight grandchildren, Brittany (Tim) Sullivan, Jessica (Camren) Miller, Kristin Turner, Jim Turner, Kaitlyn Turner, Chance Turner, Dane Turner, and Nick (Madisen) Pasek; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will miss him dearly.
George is preceded in death by his parents; two children, Michael Turner and Janet Pasek; one grandson, John Perry; two great-grandchildren; and seven siblings.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CST on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Concluding prayers will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. CST at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Walkerton (Koontz Lake). Burial will follow at Grovertown Cemetery.
George's legacy of hard work, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in the peace he so richly deserves.
