David Nyles "Ol' Dave" Eck

84, of Plainfield passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2025. David was born at home on December 4, 1940 in Zionsville, Indiana to the late Roy Eck and Margaret Eck.

In more recent years, he enjoyed restoring old cars, collecting antiques and memorabilia from Route 66. He will be remembered as a who was a jokester at times while being a disciplinarian at other times, who was also caring and generous to a fault, always willing to give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Ethel D. Eck, grandson Justin Hensley, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by children Phillip Hensley, Jr., Mark Hensley, Margaret Reid; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, as well as his beloved dogs, Buttons and Taco.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate David’s life on Friday, January 24th at 2:00pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with visitation from 1:00pm-2:00pm prior to the services on Friday. Burial will follow the services in White Lick Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Ethel.
