Send FlowersWEST ALEXANDRIA — Edward Russell Eck, 86, formerly of West Alexandria, passed away at Vancrest of Eaton Health Care Center on March 11, 2026, after a prolonged period of illness and various health issues.
He was born in Dayton on Feb. 29, 1940, to Henry and Virginia (Watson) Eck. He worked as a meat cutter for several local grocery stores. Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 55 years Linda J. Eck.
He is survived by three children: Jeffrey (Dawn) Eck, Tammy Melling, and Mark (Kristin) Eck; grandchildren: Max Eck, Cassey (Tony) Kedian, Tanner (Katie) Eck, Michael (Erika) Melling, Tiffany (Brad) Newkirk, Whitney Melling, Lauren (Andrew) Nickoli and Natalee Eck; five great-grandchildren: Makayla, Lilly, Liam and Lorelai Newkirk and Luan Kedian; and one brother, Fred (Robin) Eck of Eaton.
The family would like to thank Vancrest of Eaton for the care over the last 18 months.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton. Funeral Service for Eddie will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria.
