David Egbert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. on Jul. 12, 2023.
David Lee Egbert of Belleville passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Born in Akron OH to Mildred and Gordon Egbert, Dave, his brother Everett, and the family moved around quite a bit throughout Ohio during the boys' school years. Dave met his wife Lois at her sister's wedding in Nicktown PA. The two started a long distance relationship where Dave would roar into town on weekends in his beloved red GTO–blowing through the town's only stop sign each time. The two were married in April of 1965. Within a few years, the couple welcomed their two children, Darlene and Scott. In addition to being a husband, father and proud grandfather, Dave was an avid fisherman. He insisted that his children learn to fish with him at an early age. Family vacations were either spent camping or fishing. His children will forever remember having to catch their breakfast pancakes as he flung them across the kitchen of a rental cabin. Dave was preceded in death by his mother (Mildred Geisinger Egbert), father (Gordon Egbert) and brother (Everett Egbert). He is survived by his wife of 58 years (Lois Egbert), his two children (Darlene Egbert-Oliver and Scott Egbert) and their families. Per his request, there will not be a funeral. In lieu of flowers or food, the family asks that donations be made in his name to Maybury Farm.

So sorry to hear of "Cookie's" passing. He always brightened the day with his presence. He teased Mom with his golf cart spinning gravel and she got the biggest kick out of it. Earth lost a great individual and Heaven gained an exceptional Angel. Thoughts and prayers to Lois and the family.

I met Dave a few years back, And I found him to be a class act who loved his family and enjoyed his friends. One of the quiet gestures that he and Lois did every year was to send out. Thank you cards to veterans who he knew that had served in the armed forces. We were all so touched by That gesture. They don't make them like Dave anymore, and he will truly be missed God bless you Dave!

I am a part of the Mac´s Place gang that Dave was a proud member! So many great memories shared by Dave that we will never forget but my personal story was when I was sent to work in Singapore. I stored my trailer with my Harley in it behind Bill´s big garage. After a huge storm a large branch fell from a tree and damaged my trailer. The next day to prevent my Harley from getting moisture damage Dave was out there doing body work and resealing my trailer. He was the big hearted friend that will do anything for you at any time. He was my instant solution to help a friend on the other side of the world. The world lost a wonderful husband, father and friend but he will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace. I was blessed to call you a friend!!
