David Ernst Obituary

David Harold "Big Dave" Ernst, 57, of Johnstown, New York, died on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, New York following a battle with Covid.
He was born on September 24, 1964 in Gloversville, the son of Donald Ernst and Sandra (Lyons) Ernst. He attended the Gloversville High School and was later employed as a Forklift Driver by Adirondack Beverage of Scotia, New York. He was a member of the NRA and of the Pine Tree Rifle Club.
When David wasn't at work, he enjoyed hunting, camping, and simply driving around. He was a fan of a good meal and going to the movies, especially when John Wayne was on the screen. David was also known to love his cats, his kids, and his family, in that order.
David is survived by his father: Donald (Flora) Ernst; his mother: Sandra (Lyons) Ernst; his partner; E. Vicke Ernst; his children: Amanda (Keith Hanna) Ernst, and David Ernst; his step-daughter: Cheyanne Rivenberg; his siblings: Daniel Ernst, Sandra (Christopher) King, Lori (Rick) Beck, Douglas (Sang Hwa) Ernst; his grandchildren: Montana, and Jansen; and his ex-wife and mother of his children: Madeline VanAlstyne; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
The Ernst family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Funeral Service for David will follow at 12:00PM with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Facial Covering is required while in the funeral home.
Interment will take place following the funeral at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, New York.
Memorial contributions may be made in David's Memory to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd., Gloversville, NY 12078, or to Kitten Angels, 233 Houseman St., Mayfield, NY 12117.
The staff of Walrath and Stewart is honored to have been entrusted with David's care.
