David was born in St Louis MO, to loving parents Catherine and James Esser. He attended St Louis University where he earned his doctoral degree in dentistry. A proud American and patriot, David entered the Navy during the Vietnam war and served his country as a commissioned officer performing dental procedures for the service members. Upon leaving the Navy, David moved to Boca Raton FL where he would start his family and enter into private practice in dentistry. Returning to St Louis for 2 years to specialize as an Orthodontist he returned again to Boca Raton where he would reside and practice for almost 28 years. David then practiced in Orlando for several years before moving to Merritt Island in 2006 where he practiced Orthodontics until retiring in 2020.Throughout his life he enjoyed many activities with family and a very wonderful tight group of friends. There was racquetball, golf, boating, fishing, diving, travel, fine dining and many good times where his thunderous laugh could stop a room.much to the embarrassment of his children at times. He was not a man who dwelled on the past instead always looking forward. He would say you just gotta keep on trucking which despite his struggles toward the end is exactly what did.He will be greatly missed by those who he has left behind. His loving wife of 28 years Wendy Tuscher-Esser and her children Marc and Gabrielle. His sons David and Brian. His grandchildren, Logan, Lily and Finn. His nephews John and Joe. We all know he is in a better place with no suffering where he is reunited with those who passed before him. His beloved parents Catherine and James who left him far too early. His brother Jim, sister-in-law Maureen, and nephew James Jr, all gone too soon as well. Services for David will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church at 1940 N Courtney Pkwy, Merritt Island, on Thursday July 10th at 11am. David was a supporter of Tunnel to Towers and Wounded Warriors if anyone desires to make a donation in his name. Dr Esser transitioned from Dentistry to Orthodontics because he loved seeing the smiles once the braces were removed. We look now to heaven and smile knowing he is in God's hands and that he is smiling down on us in return.
