David L. Estad, 78, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Monday, October 28 th , 2024, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital. Services will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held for one hour before the time of the service at the church.
David was born March 14, 1946, to Leonard and Stella (Bolstad) Estad in Grafton, ND. He attended school in Hoople, ND. He farmed with his father for several years before becoming a salesman. He worked for Heritage Ford in Grafton and Swanson Motors in Cavalier for many years, ending at Birchwood Motors in Cavalier before he retired. After retirement, he started Estad Cleaning, where he enjoyed working with many families and businesses.
David married Kathy Johnson in 1969, and together, they raised two children, Michael and Sherry. In 1995, David married the love of his life, Sandra Martin Hannesson. They enjoyed their time together, camping, summer evenings outside going for walks, and traveling to different states in the winter months.
There wasn’t a Wednesday night that you wouldn’t find David at the Cavalier Golf Course with his golfing buddies, enjoying many rounds of golf. He always enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him much joy and many smiles. He loved cheering them on in all their extracurricular activities.
David is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; son, Michael; daughter, Sherry (Dan) Fjestad; stepdaughter Leah (Warren) Austfjord; stepson Troy (Angi) Hannesson. Grandchildren: Cole (Leah) Hodny, Jacob Fjestad, Mariah McWalter, Jaden Fjestad, Abby (Cooper) McWalter-Jerome, Brynn Estad, Stella Fjestad, Kayla (Dave) Uhlenkamp, Cassie (Dustin) Doyle, Chelsey (Jason) Kemnitz, Tyler (Jayden) Hannesson, Kendra (Kyle) Hannesson and Karisa Eddington.
Great-grandchildren: Hudson, Adalyn, Kayden, Owen, Gordon, Pystal, Mia, Estelle, Joe, Scarlett and Oscar. Sisters Sharon Anderson and Janice (Roger) Maras.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Joel Anderson, stepson Robbie Hannesson.
David’s family would like to thank the staff at Wedgewood Manor and Pembina County Memorial Hospital for the great care that he received.
