Francis O. Busse, 81, of Cavalier, ND passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Cavalier. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home in Cavalier.
Francis was born on January 10, 1945, in Langdon, ND to Lawrence and Grace (Danielson) Busse. He attended LaMoure Country School and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1963. Francis then attended Lake Region Junior College in Devils Lake, ND. In 1965, Francis was drafted and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, until his discharge in 1967. On June 14, 1975, he married Sherry Lewis at Cavalier.
He worked for Mayo Construction for many years, until his retirement. Francis loved spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
Survivors include his sons: James (Sally) Busse, Charlie Busse, Danny (Kayla) Busse, and Joey Busse all of Cavalier, ND, his daughter: Janelle Zorn, grandchildren: James and Jorja Busse; Austin and Kaiden Lawrence; Sydney Tessin, Lucas Anderson, Landon, Levi, and Logan Busse; great-grandchildren, Jessie Hageman and Noah Abrahamson. Also surviving are his siblings: Laurel (Paul) Brusseau, Ron (Connie) Busse, and Carolyn (Bill) Dubuque.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Sherry, and brother, Terry.
