David Everson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Erickson Funeral Home, Ltd. - Argyle on Jan. 5, 2026.
David O. Everson, age 90, of Monroe, Wisconsin, formerly of Argyle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at SSM Health Hospice Home in Monroe.

He was born on August 18, 1935, in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the son of Lester and Norma (Hendrickson) Everson. Dave grew up in the Argyle area and graduated from Argyle High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army in April of 1955 and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he served his country for several years before being honorably discharged in April of 1957.

On August 14, 1965, David was united in marriage to Mary Rand at Utica Lutheran Church in Crawford County, Wisconsin. Together they shared many years of quiet companionship. For ten winters, David and Mary spent a couple of months each year in Pinellas Park, Florida, enjoying time away and the warmth of the south all while spending time with their daughter and son-in-law.

David was a quiet, steady man who lived his life with humility and purpose. He was a faithful member of Yellowstone Lutheran Church in rural Argyle, where he served on the Church Council for many years. He also gave of his time to the community through service on the Argyle Village Board.
In the late 60's Dave owned and operated Everson's Grocery in Blanchardville, WI. He enjoyed all of the customers and recollected fondly in his later years stories and orders of all of the friends he made there. Later on he worked for the electric department for the Village of Argyle, after that he worked until retirement for Wingra Stone in Madison, WI.

In his free time, Dave enjoyed fishing-both locally and on trips to Canada-and woodworking, where he carefully crafted small pieces of furniture that he took pride in making and sharing. He was a loyal fan of the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. David also owned woodland and found great satisfaction in working with the forestry department to preserve and care for the land, valuing stewardship and conservation.

David is survived by his loving wife, Mary Everson, at home; his daughter, Sara (Brendan) Barry of Clearwater, Florida; one niece, Mary (Jeff) Moore; two nephews, Gary (Dianne) Meier and Steve (Karen) Meier; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Leona (Ray) Meier.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Yellowstone Lutheran Church in rural Argyle, with Rev. Daniel Bohlman officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

The Erickson Funeral Home of Argyle is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
