David B Finley

David B. Finley, age 72, passed away on December 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family at the James Cancer Medical Center. Born on May 7, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, to Betty Bates.

David had a wonderful sense of humor and was never afraid to laugh at himself. He proudly enjoyed Hallmark movies and Gilmore Girls, often joking that he had "lost his man card" a long time ago; something his family found endlessly amusing. He was a devoted fan of Notre Dame football and cheered faithfully for the Chicago Bears and Cubs. His favorite movie was Rudy, a story that perfectly matched his love for heart, perseverance, and a good underdog. David also simply loved relaxing and watching television, content in the comfort of home.

He was a man of faith and loyally attended and volunteered his time at the Grace Fellowship Church, Pickerington. He was known as a bright beacon of joy welcoming visitors as they came for service.

In addition to his mother, David was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, who assisted many years in raising him with love and care and helped shape the man so many came to know and cherish.

He is survived by his children, Steven (Erin) Finley and Kristen (Clifton) Drake; his cherished grandchildren, Harper, Hayden, and Chandler Finley, and Owen and Ethan Drake; his beloved "furchildren," Toby and Teddy; and his sister, Kathy. David's family was his greatest joy, and his legacy lives through each of them.

Guests are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:15PM at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, Ohio 43147, a memorial service will follow at 6:15PM to 7:00PM
