HAYNESVILLE –
Surrounded by members of his family and his church family, David B. Fisher, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Haynesville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Atrium Navicent Medical Center in Macon, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Haynesville. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Haynesville with Rev. Winfred Huff, Rev. Larry Wynn, and Rev. Tim Millwood officiating. The Deacons of the church will serve as pallbearers, and church staff will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church of Haynesville, 2953 US Hwy 341, Hawkinsville, GA 31036.
David was born June 29, 1943, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Alfred David Fisher and the late Onie Addison Fisher. He was a member of the 1961 graduating class of Abbeville High School. David felt called into the ministry at the young age of eighteen and was ordained in 1963 at Siloam Baptist Church in Abbeville. Pastor David first preached at Pope City Baptist Church in Rochelle and then at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Eastman. In 1964, he was called to be the Pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Fitzgerald where he served for more than twenty-five years. During the early years of his pastorate at Northside, David attended morning classes at Norman Park Baptist College and spent the afternoons doing church work. In addition to serving as pastor of the church, Fisher held several positions in the area including Chaplain of the Fitzgerald Police Department, member and former President of Ben Hill County Ministerial Association, and Chairman of Evangelism for the Ben Hill-Irwin Baptist Association.
In 1994, David was called to be Pastor of First Baptist Church of Haynesville where he has faithfully served for nearly thirty years. He loved his church family dearly and compassionately, and he always felt it a privilege and a joy to pastor the flock.
Brother David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Baker and Joe Rustin; and a nephew, Ken Fisher.
Left to cherish the memories they made with David are his loving and devoted wife of twenty-nine years, OkCha Fisher; his son, Jimmy Swope; his grandson, Austin Swope; his brothers, Charles Fisher (Elaine) and Glenn Fisher, both of Abbeville, and Jimmy Fisher (Dona Sue) of Valdosta; his sisters, Charlotte Rustin of Soperton, and Pat Baker of Douglas; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

We regret that Pastor David Fisher passed away. He was a wonderful friend and we
all shall miss him. We feel that he was
qualified to assist God in many ways, perhaps
as righthand man. He was very dedicated to
his church family and to others he came into
contact with. God bless his family and we love
them as we loved Brother David.
