Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Bloomington on Sep. 13, 2025.
Our sweet David Frank passed away suddenly on September 8, 2025, with his beloved wife Marsha and daughter Maisa by his side. He was born on March 13, 1950 and grew up in
Bloomington, Minnesota. He graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in 1968 and Mankato State College in 1973. During college in Mankato he lived the life of a happy young man. He studied some but enjoyed attending events and especially protest rallies. He met Marsha in the spring of 1972. They immediately fell hopelessly in love and married on May 5, 1973. After graduating Dave joined his family's business, Frank Refrigeration. He worked beside his parents, two uncles, two brothers, an aunt, and his wife. He made sure that his employees were treated like family. His wonderful daughter Maisa came into his life and changed it forever. That first day he met her, Dave looked at her and said he just knew she was going to be extraordinary. He adored her and loved being a girl dad. Dave especially enjoyed spending hours at dance competitions rating the routines and comparing his work to the judges'- and he was usually right! After Frank Refrigeration closed in 1994, and as his parents grew older, Dave made it his mission to make sure they could stay in their home. He selflessly spent countless hours with them tending to his childhood home in Bloomington. Dave then began working for UPS handling freight at the Minneapolis airport. This meant early hours through all types of weather. Yes, it was hard work, but he always thought of it as "going out to play with his friends, the Dirty Eights" (the self-titled name of their team). Dave loved to travel and explore the beauty of nature, from mountains to beaches. He loved to hike in the National Parks, but he also enjoyed walking around his beloved Las Vegas. Classic rock music was a fixture in Dave's house, and he especially loved hearing live music, attending countless concerts with his wife and friends. He was so proud of his large collection of vinyl records and CDs. This last year he spent countless hours alphabetizing them. He refused to convert them to digital, saying that he wanted to "hold his music." Dave was an avid gardener. He enjoyed growing tomatoes and took great pride in the quarts and quarts of tomatoes his garden produced. Over the years he and Marsha also grew cucumbers, beans, rhubarb, all sorts of peppers, strawberries, plums, apples, and other edible delights. Dave was so proud to walk Maisa down the aisle to marry Joe Cappola. He delighted in the arrival of his three grandkids and loved watching videos of their activities over and over again. Family was his number one priority, and Dave loved his girls, Marsha and Maisa, above all else. Dave is survived by his wife, Marsha, daughter Maisa, her husband Joe, and their children Milo, Juno, and Remy, his brother Jerry and his wife Anita, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Dave was preceded in death by his mother Ardella Frank, father Richard Frank, and brother Steve Frank. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 19 at 2pm, with visitation 1 hour prior and reception to follow, at Washburn-McReavy Werness Brothers Bloomington Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Road,
Bloomington, MN. Dave loved bright colors - feel free to wear yours. Interment at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the 30-Days Foundation, 8014 Olson Memorial Hwy #195, Golden Valley, MN 55427, or online at www.the30-daysfoundation.org.
