David Carlisle Gilcrease passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family in his home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
David was born on February 23, 1960 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Dorrice and Elmer Gilcrease. David graduated in 1978 from Delta Heritage Academy in Buras, Louisiana. David spent his young adult life working with his father at B & G Lumber in the Buras Community where he is loved and respected by many. On May 1, 1996, David married Joyce in a private ceremony in Gatlinburg, Tennessee witnessed by his proud parents. Joyce and David founded Coastal Insurance Associates in 2002 and operated the company through 2020. David enjoyed spending his days keeping the yard picture perfect, playing golf with friends and having wonderful Wednesday “date days” with his wife Joyce (who he loving called “Missy”). David also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Carlisle Gilcrease and Dorrice A. Winchester-Gilcrease; and his brother, Donald Earl Jordan.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Gilcrease; his sister, Diane Rodrigues (Bill); stepchildren, James E. Twiggs (Suzette) and Jerry L. Twiggs (Laura); grandchildren, Taylor Twiggs-Sutter (Brian), Sydney Twiggs (Jeff), Colton Twiggs (Anna) and Landon Twiggs (Kendal); and great-grandchildren, Oliver Lee Twiggs and Reese Madison Sutter.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. A celebration of life will follow the burial at the home of Joyce and David.
