Obituary
Guest Book
It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of Ronnie Gilcrease. Ronnie was born in Leesville, Louisiana on October 25, 1954 and entered into rest on January 17, 2025 at the age of 70.
Ronnie graduated from Fair Park High School in 1972 where he excelled in baseball and had many accolades. He retired from Libbey Glass as an electrician.
Ronnie was an awesome brother, he had a kind heart and was very well liked by anyone who knew him. I cannot think of one individual that didn’t think the world of him. Especially the ladies!
He loved camping out with his family at Albert’s Pike and loved fishing with his family and friends on Toledo Bend. He was an avid hunter and loved his time spent with his friends at the Whitetail Hunting Club in Bienville, Louisiana. He especially enjoyed sitting on a pipeline with his buddy Earl Scroggins, who passed a few years ago.
Ronnie didn’t require much to make him happy. He enjoyed watching football and was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved his hunting, fishing, sports betting and video poker, but most of all he just enjoyed sitting around with friends or listening to one of his many albums, enjoying a Buzz Ball or shot of Sky Vodka while discussing anything and everything under the sun. The last few years he was a regular visitor at the “Russel Cafe” which gave him much joy and would ease his mind of his troubles.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his paternal father, Archie Gilcrease; his stepfather, Ralph Monk; his partner, Monette Matthews; and his mother, Georgia Monk that passed just 3 days after him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tammy Forsong and Lisa Michelle Brunn (John); brother, Danny Gilcrease (Jennie); sister, Janet Pendleton; sister-in-law, Cindy Gilcrease; three grandchildren, Breanna, Logan and Kaylee; and four great grandchildren, Eleanor, Daisy, Kyson and Brailynn.
Ronnie did not want a traditional funeral. He would want crawfish, alcohol and happy people. When the weather is warmer and the crawfish are larger we plan to celebrate his life!
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Russell Leonard, the Members of the Whitetail Hunting Club, and I must include the Dallas Cowboys so they can “let him down” one more time!
