David Gipson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Manchester Funeral Home on Dec. 26, 2025.
David E. Gipson, age 59, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, at Highpoint Health in Winchester. A man of many talents and a deep heart, David spent his life dedicated to hard work, his family, and the freedom of the open road.
David grew up working side-by-side with his father in the asphalt business, a trade he loved and carried with him throughout his life. He was a gifted handyman who found joy in fixing things and woodworking. Whether he was building a porch, remodeling a bathroom for a loved one, or meticulously refinishing wood, David's hands were rarely still. He was always the first to offer his skills to family and friends in need.
Beyond his work, David's heart belonged to the motorcycle community. He was an avid rider who felt most at home on two wheels. His kindness extended to those who couldn't always help themselves; he was known for his devotion to helping the elderly and his deep love for animals. He took great care of his hounds and leaves behind his loyal companion, his dog, Max.
David was a man of profound loyalty. He cherished the time spent with his parents growing up and missed them dearly after their passing, continuing to visit them regularly at the cemetery to keep their memory alive.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Janie Gipson, and his siblings, Nancy Sweeney, Jimmy Ray (Margie) Gipson, and Brenda Kay (Mike) Cleary.
David is survived by his sisters, Linda Fay (Wayne) Cox and Diane (Terry) Hershman. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Matt, Janie, Carolann, Ray, Mikie, Ruth (Ryan) Brenner, Anthony, Mario, Rocky, Angel, Lisa, and Jeremy; 36 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great-nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loving canine companion, Max.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Manchester Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin immediately following the visitation at 5:00 PM. Burial will be held at a later date at Summitville Cemetery in Manchester, TN, where David will be laid to rest near his beloved parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in David's honor to the Coffee County Animal Shelter in Manchester, TN
