Hattie Nunley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Manchester Funeral Home on Feb. 16, 2026.
Hattie Nunley, a longtime resident of Pelham, Tennessee, passed away on February 12, 2026. Born on June 18th 1950, Hattie was a woman defined by her sharp mind, her enduring love for her community, and a deeply creative spirit that touched everyone she met.

Hattie was a staple of the Pelham community, best known for her incredible talent with a needle and thread. Her handmade quilts were more than just blankets; they were intricate works of art that showcased her patience and eye for detail. Beyond her quilting, she found great joy in the quiet challenge of a puzzle and various craft projects. She was a woman who saw the beauty in making things by hand and sharing that beauty with others.

Hattie truly cherished the time she spent with her friends. She looked forward to their frequent trips out of Pelham to Murfreesboro for appointments, which were always followed by a good meal and even better conversation. These outings were a highlight of her social life and a testament to the lasting friendships she nurtured over the decades.

Hattie was the last surviving sibling of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Robert Wellman, and her daughter, Carol Ashburn.

She is survived by her grandsons, Joshua Wellman and Ryan Wellman, and great grandchildren, Braylen, Annistyn, Jade, Lestat, and Niko. Her memory lives on through her devoted grandson, Joshua Wellman. Joshua was a constant and loving presence in her life, making weekly visits to her home in Pelham to help with chores and spend hours talking. Their bond was a source of great comfort and strength for her.

The family encourages those who knew Hattie or have additional stories to contribute to her legacy to contact Manchester Funeral Home at 931-728-3505.
