David Richard Gizzi, of Mountlake Terrace, WA, passed away on August 28, 2024, at Providence Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by his family.
David was born May 3, 1982, in Seattle, WA, the youngest son born to his parents, Laurence and Melinda Gizzi. David grew up with his two brothers in Edmonds, WA, and graduated from Edmonds Woodway High School.
He had a love of music, and though very modest about his abilities in later years, he was a beautiful and talented pianist. After teaching himself to play, David gave music lessons to start earning money. After working at places like the local Safeway and Shamrock Recovery Services, David began working in affordable housing where he found his true calling. As someone always wanting to take care of people, service in an industry helping to provide such a fundamental human need to seniors and families became his passion. In these roles, David touched the lives of so many, residents, co-workers, and community partners alike. Most recently, he served as a Regional Manager at Community Roots Housing. His hands on approach and no-nonsense attitude to resolving problems was belied by his willingness to shelter, protect, and provide a safe space for his team.
David was a dedicated father, believing his children come before anything in life. Though he wasn't much into sports, he loved watching his daughter, Ariel, participate in cheer, both Ariel and Brooke participating in drill team, and watching his sons, Zach and George, play football. Watching them grow and become independent young adults was bittersweet for him. Though he missed them being small and could hardly believe they were getting so big, he was proud of the young adults they are turning out to be.
He was a wonderful husband. David was protective, outgoing, and fearless. His wife having introvert tendencies would benefit from this over and over. During remote work times, David would bring her lunch regularly to make sure she took a break. They made new friends anywhere they went because David would strike up a conversation with anyone.
David loved spending time with family and friends and his love-language was food. Whether hosting a gathering or attending one, he would make sure everyone had something to eat or a sweet treat. He especially loved times where family and friends were gathered to listen to music, play games, laugh and have a meal. His laughter will live on in our hearts.
David is survived by his wife, Shauna; his daughters, Ariel and Brooke; his sons, Zach and George; his father, Laurence; and his brothers, Wayne and Joe. He is preceded by his mother, Melinda.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 12, 2024, at Nile Shrine Golf Course Potentates Lounge, 6601 244th St SW, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043. Due to space limitations, there will be an intimate gathering of family at 11:00 a.m. We invite friends and co-workers to come at 1:00 p.m. In memory of David's love for his children, a fund has been established titled "The Gizzi Children". Donations in lieu of flowers can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of/david-gizzi/donate/ to support his children's life events.
