David Goetz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lee-Ellena Funeral Home on Dec. 12, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David "Dave" Goetz, age 69, who left us on December 12, 2025. Born on December 21, 1955, to Lester and Doris Goetz, Dave was a lifelong resident of New Haven, where he cultivated strong ties within his community and made lasting memories with those he loved.
On October 21, 1978, he married his beloved wife, Linda, and together they raised a beautiful family filled with love. Dave was a dedicated father to Jeremy, Bobbie Jo (the late Mike), Casey (Kelly), Dayna, and Melanie, and a doting grandfather to Maddy, Casey, Asa, Finn, Oliver, Gabby, Clark, Naomi, Sterling, Della, and Kyle. Family was everything to him, and he poured his heart into every precious moment spent with them.
A proud graduate of New Haven High School, class of 1974, Dave took great pride in his community and dedicated 12 years as a member of the New Haven School Board. He was a familiar face in local schools, not only as a part-time bus driver but also as someone who was deeply involved in youth sports. For over three decades, Dave announced New Haven High School football games, coached various sports, and served as President of the Little League. His passion for sports was infectious, especially his unwavering love for everything University of Michigan.
Dave was not just a member of the New Haven Alumni Association; he and Linda were honored to be inducted into the New Haven High School Athletic Hall of Fame, a testament to their commitment to supporting local athletes. He also contributed significantly to the Cager Youth Basketball League and the Blue Water Wolves softball team while fostering a spirit of teamwork and athleticism in the next generation.
Dave leaves behind his cherished siblings, including Mary Ann Goetz, and is predeceased by his sister Shirley Jean, Dorcene, and his brother Lester (Thom), along with his devoted parents, Lester and Doris. His warmth, enthusiasm, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Rest in peace, Dave. Your spirit will continue to inspire us in every swim, every game, and every loving memory we create.

Yesterday

Deeply saddened to learn of Dave´s passing. While I never met Dave, Jeremy talked about him so often it was almost like knowing him. I know Jeremy will miss those early morning texts during the quiet hours of his morning workouts. Dave did the small stuff right, so you know the big stuff was good too. Wishing the Goetz family peace.
