David Lister Goodbody died June 28th, 2025, at his home on Seabrook Island, South Carolina. Born November 19, 1947 in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Williamsburg. He chose an interesting and varied life. After graduating from Adelphi College he counseled job seekers, drove a school bus, and tried hospital administration before finding a niche as a graduate from the Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing, New Jersey. After working in several restaurants he taught at Johnson and Wales, specializing in sanitation and inventory control. And worked at the Piggly Wiggly/Harris Teeter for many years. He moved to South Carolina full time in the early 1990s. Throughout his life he loved music, most especially The Beach Boys. And baseball. His sense of humor was ever-present, witty and always kind. His family, friends and neighbors (and their dogs) will certainly miss him. He is survived by his sisters, Joan Goodbody and Maggie Niles, and by his brother in law, Nick Niles, his niece and nephew, Jennifer and David Niles and by his grand niece and nephew, Helen and Harry Niles.
Memorial service is on Saturday, October 11, 2025. At Church of our Saviour, 4416 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Is, SC. Service starts at 11, reception to follow in the perish hall.
In lieu of flowers donations to a local wildlife organization would be appropriate.
