David John Goss, 76, of Tabernacle, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 8, 2024, after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on April 1, 1948, David was a man of many talents and immense warmth. He moved to Ocean City, NJ at a young age and graduated high school from St. Augustine Preparatory School in Richland, NJ, and furthered his education at St. Leo University in St. Leo, FL.
David's professional journey was marked by his dedication and expertise in various roles. He started his career as a chemist in Woodbine, NJ, and also held a real estate license in Ocean City, NJ, where he worked for his mother's real estate agency, Goss Realty. In 1986, He moved to Southampton, NJ to work as chemist with the State of New Jersey. He retired as a senior chemist from the State, a title and position of which he was enormously proud of.
Upon retirement, David worked in a variety of part-time roles, as a banker at Bank of America, deli clerk at Murphy's Market in Tabernacle, NJ, as a substitute teacher for the Lenape Regional School District, and a tutor at Rowan College at Burlington County.
A pillar in his community, David was actively involved as a leader of his son's Boy Scout Troop 31 of Vincentown, NJ, attending summer camp, organizing many camping trips, and assisting in many service projects.
David's commitment to service was also evident in his long-standing participation with the Church of the Holy Eucharist in Tabernacle, NJ, where he participated in the Knights of Columbus, as a lector, usher, and as an advisor to the parish youth group.
David's hobbies included bicycling, coin collecting, and playing the dulcimer, activities that he pursued with enthusiasm and joy.
David was a cherished figure not only within his community but also within his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that is carried on by his wife of 48 years, Elda Goss; his children, Judy Goss and David J. Goss; his granddaughter, Brinkly Jane Spaulding; and his brother, Charles Goss. He will also be fondly remembered by his beloved family cats, Jasper and Hank. David was preceded in death by his grandmother, Florence Brittingham; grandparents, Emma and Charles Goss; his mother, Helen Goss; and his niece, Amy Goss.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, August 16th from 10 am to 11 am the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Medford Lakes Road, Tabernacle.
