It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved son David Lowrie Gray on September 21, 2025. He was born in Harrisonburg, VA on December 6, 1992, and was the son of Stan and Judy Gray. David graduated from Harrisonburg High School and immediately moved to Lake Tahoe, California, to be with his friends and pursue his passion for snowboarding. David will be remembered for his kindness, beautiful smile, infectious laugh and living life to the fullest. He was passionate about snowboarding, surfing, traveling, family, Isyss, his puppy Blue, and spending time with his friends. His passion for snowboarding and surfing took him around the world including Australia, Germany, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Thailand. David also loved to fish, hike and camp with his friends. For most of the 14 years while living in Truckee he worked for Vanessa Fiedler, at Tahoe City Sushi. He had a great respect for Vanessa and was an excellent sushi chef. David fought a courageous battle with addiction and mental health. While his pain ultimately became unbearable, it does not define the incredible light he brought into this world. His spirit and memory will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, David is survived by his brother Chris Gray, (Amanda) of Washington DC; his sister Katie Shabazian, (Rob) of Verona, New Jersey and nieces and nephew Leni, Theo, and Ruby. David was preceded in death by his grandparents Walter Lowrie (Bud) and Edith Martin and Stanley and Josie Gray. A beautiful celebration of his life was held by his wonderful Tahoe friends and the Va. boys on Donner Lake on Friday, September 26, 2025. To honor David, please donate to either the Rocker Memorial Skate Park or the Tahoe Truckee Suicide Prevention Coalition and make donations in memory of David Gray. https://www.tahoelifeline.org/donate https://rockermemorialskatepark.org/
