David Mitchell Haggerty, a cherished family man, respected veteran, and friend to all who knew him, passed away surrounded by love. Born on July 18, 1958, to the late Christopher Columbus Haggerty and Alma Jewel Crawford Haggerty, David's life was a testament to the values of kindness, humor, and hard work.
David's legacy is carried on through his devoted sons, Michael David (Charity) Haggerty of Goodwater, Clayton Mitchell (Kristy) Haggerty of Dadeville, and Daniel Will (Quintera) Haggerty of Prattville. His joy was multiplied by his grandchildren, Abigail Nacole, Bryan Michael, Dawson Mitchell, and Mason Lee Haggerty, who will miss their grandfather's warmth and wisdom. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Jewel Ann Johnson, James Earl (Jeanette) Haggerty, Sara Lee (Larry) Fuller, and Ralph A. Haggerty, who will fondly remember their brother's funny and kind spirit.
David's six years of service in the United States National Guard were a source of great pride for him and his family. His commitment to his country was matched only by his dedication to his faith, living as a true example of Christian principles. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as spending time with his family and friends, and he was a constant presence at local flea markets, where he was known for his friendly banter and keen eye for treasures.
An avid fisherman, David cherished the quiet moments by the water, often accompanied by his numerous feline friends who were a special part of his life. Neighbors knew they could always count on David for a helping hand or a hearty laugh, and his ability to fix just about anything earned him the affectionate title of the handyman in his community.
David's sense of humor was infectious, and his kindness knew no bounds. He navigated life's challenges with grace and always had a joke or a smile to share, even in difficult times. His presence was a comfort and a joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we say goodbye to David Mitchell Haggerty, we celebrate the remarkable person he was and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. His memory will live on through the stories told, the laughter shared, and the love he gave so freely. David's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and joy, and he will be deeply missed by all who were touched by his generous spirit.
