David Hall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home - Bardstown on Mar. 20, 2026.
David Bernard Hall, 87, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the family who loved him - and by his devoted cat, who rarely left his lap and remained by his side until the end.

David spent his childhood at the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home in Louisville, where he grew up alongside his siblings. The Home shaped much of his early life, instilling in him the values of resilience, responsibility, and community that he carried throughout his years. After graduating, David began working in the Masonic Home Print Shop, the first step in what would become a lifelong career in the printing industry.

He devoted his professional life to the craft of printing, working first for the Home and later for Clark & Riggs Printing in Louisville. David took great pride in his work - in the precision, the skill, and the reliability it demanded. Colleagues knew him as steady, capable, and committed, the kind of person who could be counted on to get the job done right.

David married the love of his life, Judy Wallace Hall, and together they built a warm and welcoming home grounded in partnership and devotion. Their life together was filled with quiet joys, shared routines, and a deep mutual respect that endured until Judy's passing - a loss David bore with grace and strength.

Family was always at the center of David's world. He was a proud father to Mark Hall (Kimi Ynigues Hall) and Todd Hall (Jill), and he cherished watching his grandsons, Alexander Hall (Lauren) and Daniel Hall, grow into adulthood. In recent years, becoming a great grandfather to Theodore Hall brought him profound joy. His family will remember him for his gentle humor, his steady presence, and the way he expressed love through quiet acts of support and generosity.

David is also survived by his sister, Peggy Hasselback, and was preceded in death by his beloved wife Judy, four sisters, and one brother.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, with visitation from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in David's name.
