David Philip Hamilton 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 29,2025. He was born September 21, 1946, in Castine, the son of Ira Jr. and Beulah (Grindle) Hamilton.
David joined the Army in 1969 until 1975 leaving with an honorable discharge. Coming home to Sedgwick with his wife Ree(Astbury) and his two children, Jeffrey and Traci he began his long career of cutting logs with his father and then working for the logging company H.C. Haynes for 47 years.
David made friends easily and enjoyed his long conversations and interactions with them. He will be long remembered as an avid outdoorsman whether it was hunting, fishing, working in his gardens or just enjoying sitting on his porch waving to everyone going by. He will be missed by his family and an abundance of friends. David was known as a strong people person and enjoyed being with them.
David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ree (Astbury) Hamilton; a sister, Paula Gray; son Jeffrey Hamilton and wife Carrie; daughter Traci Hamilton; grandchildren who he loved dearly, Lacey Bunt and husband Nate, Tyler Leach, Amanda Hamilton and partner Brock Thorne, Ashley Hamilton, Andrea Hamilton and partner Jake Bowden, Dalton Hamilton, Maranda Pert and Charlotte Snow; great-grandchildren who he also loved unconditionally, Gabe and Kahlan Knox, Blake Thorne, Malia Thorne, and Alaina Thorne; and many nieces and nephews who he loved as if they were his own; brother's in law Alden Astbury and wife Wanda, Scott Astbury and wife Tammy. He leaves many friends but very special friends, Ralph Proctor and Jerry Ashley.
David was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, father and mother-in-law Tracy and Bernice Astbury, brother-in-law Bob Gray, sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Thomas Fowler and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 273 Graytown Rd. in Sedgwick. www.acadiacremation.com
