David Hamlin

David E. Hamlin, 75, a proud veteran, passed away on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2025 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.
David was born on February 10,1950 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Mary Nell Hamlin. He graduated from North Marshall High School. David joined the United States Army and served from 1969-1978 completing a tour in Vietnam from 1969-1971. He was a member of the Calvert City Post 236 American Legion and the Briensburg-TL Jefferson #401 F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge.
He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Aurora. David loved to sing gospel music and he had a beautiful bass voice. He was one of the original volunteers for the Bags of Hope food ministry for the Blood River Baptist Association.
David was a huge University of Kentucky Men's Basketball fan. He loved to call and remind everyone when the games were on television and then call back the next day to recap everything they did right and wrong during the game.
David is survived by his sister, Paulette (John) Morgan of Benton, his brothers Joe (Cynthia) Hamlin of Benton and Michael Dean Hamlin of Newport, KY. He is also survived by his nephews Brad (Tiffinee) Morgan, who he called "mom and dad", Brandon (Mary) Morgan, niece, Jordan Hamlin of Nashville, TN, Great Niece Alexa (Derek) Morse of Benton, and Great Nephews Brady Morgan of Benton and Ethan Morgan of Lexington.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 15, at 11:00 a.m. at the Collier Funeral Home, Bro. Brian Sims, Bro. C. C. Brasher, and Bro. Jack Kee officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military rites will be held at Union Ridge Cemetery in Aurora.

The family would like to thank everyone at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center especially those in the Roosevelt House who truly loved David and were his family away from home.
