Claire Fierberg Levy Hamlin
Mrs. Claire Hinda Hamlin died November 10, 2025. She was born to Elizabeth and Solway Fierberg on January 3, 1938 and was 87 years old. Claire was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Jeri Alice Phillips, her husband, Stephen Hamlin, who died in 2012, and her first husband and father of her children, Robert D. Levy, in 2013.
Claire leaves behind her sister, Mickey Freundlich, and her husband, Mike of Bend, Oregon; her children, and their spouses, Bambi and Mark Owens of Cumming, Edward and Beth Levy of Indianapolis, Davida and Tony Drake of Atlanta, and Josh and Sandy Levy of Suwanee. Her grandchildren who knew her as Honey were Erika Levy from Cologne, Germany, Jason Hood from San Francisco, Melissa Eaton and Aashwin Jain from San Francisco, Madelyn Owens from Cumming, Christopher Owens of Kennesaw, and Taylor Owens of Denver; Preston Drake of Atlanta, Cameron and Michelle Drake of Denver, and Jameson and Marleigh Drake of Chamblee, Ryan and Meghan Levy, and Matthew Levy from Suwanee. As well as her great grandson, Braden Guerrero of Indianapolis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Sarah Phillips and Josh Rosenstock of Boston, Marc Freundlich of Dallas, Mitchell and Kristin Freundlich of Boston, and Margie and Honza Vrbata of Bend, Oregon.
Mrs. Hamlin was an avid early supporter of AIDS rights as well as its medical funding since the early 1980s. She traveled to Washington, D.C. to walk for women's rights as well as abortion rights, and she helped to champion services for the elderly for years through Legacy Link. She loved all of the rescue pups she had over the years and supported many animal shelters. She was an art enthusiast and hobbyist who enjoyed painting throughout her adult life up until her middle 80s.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date in early 2026. In lieu of flowers, a donation to either the Atlanta Food Bank or Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) would be appreciated.
