Mr. David Lee Hammonds, age 78, formerly of Adairsville, passed away peacefully Monday, February 16, 2026, at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, Rome, GA.
He was born in Bartow County, Georgia on May 29, 1947, son of the late William David and Virginia Lulabell Rodgers Hammonds. A man of deep and abiding faith, Lee cherished attending church service. He found great strength in the Scripture and expressed his love for the Lord through worship and song Lee was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Hammonds and Charles Wayne Hammonds, and a sister, Betty Lindsey.
Survivors include two sisters, Brenda McClure and Syble Williams; two brothers, Danny Hammonds and Scottie Hammonds; his caretakers, Sandra and Kenneth Hammonds; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Barry Adcock officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Kingston. Payson Hammonds, Kenneth Hammonds, David Williams, Randall McClure, Jamey Veley and Ricky Razo will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at Barton Funeral Home.
