Mr. David Hammonds Sr.

Mr. David Hammonds Sr., 80, formerly of Waterbury, passed away Friday, July 25, 2017 at Grandview Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hammonds was born December 19, 1936 in Columbia, SC a son to the late Clarence and Cora (Dayes) Hammonds. He was educated in the SC public school system. David attended school until the third grade ending his formal education. He began to educate himself in everything from reading, writing, and math to plumbing, electricity and auto mechanics. He was a plethora of knowledge. In his younger years he served in the United States Army prior to becoming an entrepreneur owning his own business. David enjoyed traveling, working on cars, building things and doing home improvements. He was truly a jack of all trades. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and carpentry. There was nothing that he would not do for people who asked. He would give the shirt off of his back for anyone. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by Natasha Hammonds, Josepha Hammonds, Nadina Hammonds, Jamell Hammonds, Jamal Hammonds, David Hammonds Jr. Sabrina Agbede, Sherita Norman, Zapporah Paris, Orenthal Paris, Shawn Dansby, Brian Dansby, Crystal Cabral, Glenda Nowell, Keith Butler, Jeffrey Burton, Jason Washington, Eric Crump, Julian Crump, Michael Crump, Jacqueline Marsh, , sixteen grandchildren, three brother; Alfred Hammonds, Ike Hammonds, Claron Hammonds, several nieces, nephews, cousins extended family and friends. He was predeceased by brothers Eddie Hammonds and Bobby Hammonds, three sisters, Mary Delta, Anni Lee Harrison, Lucille Hammonds.
