David served in the United States Army, joining February 10, 1976, and served until February 9, 1980. David was in the 3rd Infantry Division, and enjoyed his time in the service, which he considered one of the great honors of his life.

He graduated from RHEMA Bible Training Center in 1987, and began David Harbison Ministries in 1988, where he traveled full time as an evangelist doing church meetings and tent revivals around the United States.

In 1991, David and his wife Janet founded Victory Family Church in Belleville, IL, where he pastored full time for 34 years. Over the years, Rev. David and Janet continued to reach out to neighboring communities through the tent ministry.

He was an avid bass fisherman, leading him to found the Federation of Christian Anglers and Sportsmen in 1996. F.O.C.A.S. gave David many opportunities to reach many people through tournament bass fishing, along with outreaches such as kids fishing derbies, benefit tournaments for organizations such as Hospice, as well as memorial tournaments. As a result, David also made many friendships that would last a lifetime and lead him all over the country pursuing one of his passions and making lifelong memories with his family and friends.

Along with fishing, David was an avid deer hunter, always looking forward to the fall and the opportunity to chase whitetail deer with his sons and friends. Harvesting deer was always great, but the greatest joy for David in both hunting and fishing was being in God's creation and observing its beauty.

Above all of his hobbies, David's greatest passions were his family and reaching people for God. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and extended family, whether it was on vacations, listening to music, or at family events. He had a deep love for his family and cherished all of those times together. David spent the large majority of his life preaching and teaching the goodness of God across the country and around the world to bring as many people as possible to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. David's harvest field reached much further than the 4 walls of a church or the side curtains of a tent; he took advantage of every opportunity that presented itself to share his testimony and let people know about the goodness and love of God.
