David Harris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evergreen Funeral Cremation and Reception - Columbus on Nov. 5, 2025.
David Keith Harris was the 5th child and fourth son of Tillmon Harris, Sr. (of Fort Valley, GA) and Willa Mae (Jeter) Harris (of Union, SC). Born July 13,1960, David was a kind, gentle soul who was a devoted father and loyal friend who was loved by many.
His hearty laugh and quiet demeanor with his signature broad smile, bald head, bow legs and baseball cap, preceded the huge bear hug greeting he consistently delivered.
His love for his children and extended family was second only to his love for the Lord. He was a believer and follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and sought to pattern his life after Him and His teachings.
David was a gifted artist and enjoyed sketching. He was a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, and was an employee of OSU's Medical Center for nearly 35 years. He began working at the University in sterile supply at age 19 and retired in 2013 as manager of the maintenance team of Dodd, Upham and McCampbell Halls.
David attended Pilgrim Elementary, Beatty Park Elementary, Champion Junior High and graduated from Columbus East High School in 1978. He enjoyed many sports and played on the football team for East. He was awarded a football scholarship to Waldorf University (Forest City, IA), where he played one year and majored in Art.
Upon his return to Columbus, he met and married Stephanie Marsh. They welcomed two sons; Brandon and Bradley. Later he united with Kimberleigh Branch in marriage and the two welcomed, one daughter, Jordan.
David enjoyed traveling, cheering on his beloved Buckeyes and, of course, his favorite recliner where he could be found watching tv; usually some sporting event, documentary, animal or comedy show.
He rarely felt the need to raise his voice but could be stern and unwavering when the situation called for it. David's sweet spirit will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Tillmon Harris, Jr. and Smith "Tony" Harris. He leaves to cherish his memory sons, Brandon K. Harris, Bradley L. Harris and daughter, Jordan A. Harris, granddaughter, Nyla A. Harris, sister Robin A.Marley, Brothers, Timothy Harris and Jeffrey Harris, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
