David J. Hayburn, 66, of Kirkwood, IL passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at his son’s house in Abingdon, IL.
David was born on October 10, 1958, in Aledo, IL the son of Lester E. and Marie (McGough) Hayburn. He was raised in Kirkwood and graduated from Yorkwood High School.
On March 10, 1984, David married Tammy Elliott at Coldbrook Christian Church, they later divorced but remained good friends, raising their 3 sons together.
David worked at the Iowa Army Ordinance Plant in Middletown, IA, for 18 years.
David was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He was well-known for his knack for creating and building everything from sheds to picnic tables.
Surviving are two sons, Matthew (Diamonique) Hayburn of Monmouth, IL, Aaron (Ally Austin) Hayburn of Abingdon, IL; 12 grandchildren that he loved dearly; siblings, Katherine (David) James, Debra (Gary) Abbott, Rodney Hayburn, Kathleen (Jeff) Hayburn, all of Galesburg, IL; Brenda Hayburn of Kirkwood and Kevin Hayburn of Arkansas.
David is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Travis Hayburn, and one brother, Larry Hayburn.
Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Visitation will be from 5:00-6:00 p.m., Friday prior to the services. Cremation will be accorded following the services. Memorials may be given to the David J. Hayburn Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
