Lois J. Lynch, 94, of Alexis, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg, IL, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 20, 1931 in Fairview, IL, the daughter of Harry A. and Mary C. (Cook) Ditmars. She was raised and educated in Knoxville, IL, graduating from Knoxville High School in 1949.
Lois married Floyd E. Lynch on March 5, 1950 in Knoxville, IL. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2000.
She was a member of Coldbrook Christian Church, the What-so-ever Class, Mary-Martha Circle, Alexis-North Henderson PTA and the Alexis-North Henderson PTA Council. Lois was an avid reader and enjoyed working on family genealogy projects. She also loved visiting and corresponding with family and friends, and traveling. In the summer, she enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.
Surviving are her two children, Lori McKeown of Rio, IL and Kevin (Fawn) Lynch of Galesburg IL; four grandchildren, Carey (Nathaniel) Feltmeyer of Galesburg, IL, Cory (Tara) McKeown of Alexis, IL, Heather Lynch of Knoxville, and Nate (Jessica) McGraw of Macomb, IL; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sons, James Lynch and John David Lynch.
The family would like to give special thanks to the fourth-floor nursing staff at OSF St. Mary’s, Dr. Abigail Rapp from the OSF St. Mary’s Emergency Department, Dr. Pasupathy Padmanabhan (Dr. Paddy), and Dr. Keith Peachey for the care and kindness they provided to Lois and her family during her time in their care.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home & Crematory, Monmouth IL. Interment will be at Alexis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital and can be sent to the funeral home. .
